Sayako Sugawara
Sayako Sugawara (b. 1972,Milan) is a London based Japanese artist working with photography, moving image and installation.
Alternative photographic processes is central to her practice, resulting in sculptural images in which the sense of touch is embedded. Through poetic associations and the physical working method, she explores notions of memory and imagination.
Sayako Sugawara studied Japanese Painting at Tama Art Univerity (Tokyo, Japan), Fine Arts at HKU (Utrecht, The Netherlands), and Photography at London College of Communication (UK). She is the recipient of several art Residencies and her series The River has been recently featured in the Financial Times. Her work will be exhibited at Ibasho Gallery (Antwerp, Belgium) in Autumn 2022.
